UDUPI: Communication for Development and Learning, Bangalore, with support from UNICEF, will organise a one-day media orientation on HIV/AIDS at the Bal Bhavan here on October 7.

A press release issued here stated that the orientation, which will be held in Kannada, will aim to train journalists to report on HIV/AIDS in an informed and sensitive manner. The orientation will give the participating journalists an opportunity to interact with various stakeholders, such as officials from the Department on Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka Network of Positive People, which is a Statewide network of HIV+ people and editors. The programme is especially significant for journalists as Udupi is one of the high-risk districts in the State. Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj will deliver the keynote address.
