Headmistress of a Bangalore school accused of swindling Rs. 1.5 crore

BANGALORE: A headmistress of a school in Bangalore, who is accused of having swindled funds to the tune of Rs. 1.5 crore, has moved the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of proceedings in a lower court against her.

In her petition, the headmistress claimed that she is innocent and that she is not involved in the case as is being made out by the police and the State.

According to the police, the headmistress had fabricated records and salary statements of teachers and had swindled funds to the tune of at least Rs. 1.5 crore.

The police said that four cases had been registered against the headmistress, including those in Subramanyanagar police station and one in Rajgopalnagar police station.

The scandal came to light after the secretary of the school in which the petitioner was working as a headmistress lodged a complaint with the Bangalore city police. The case is being heard by the fourth ACCM, Bangalore.

She approached the High Court seeking quashing of proceedings before the ACCM and also of the investigation.

The court adjourned further proceedings on the case.
