CHENNAI
: Excited whispers filled the auditorium in Russian Cultural Centre as students waited to find out which movie they would get to watch on the first day of the International Children's Film festival, inaugurated here on Wednesday.
The children laughed at the opening shots from the film Marya-iskusnitsa, where a soldier shares his lunch with a squirrel. Thus began their 90-minute theatrical journey with the soldier to help little Vanya save his mother, Maria, from the clutches of an evil wizard."The international films to be screened will portray friendship, care for the elderly and battling hardships in life," said Manoj Koundinya of the Rotaract Club of Akash. Stanislav I. Simakov, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Russia, inaugurated the festival.
