KOCHI: With the threat of chikungunya spreading to other districts looming large, several organisations and NGOs have offered help to the authorities in fighting the epidemic and educating people on preventive steps. The Kerala Police Association has urged its members to launch cleaning of public places in each police station limits in the State. The district committees of the KPA will organise such operations. The National Ex-servicemen Co-ordination Committee has asked its members to be actively involved in preventive steps as well as in reaching relief to those affected. K.P. Saidalavi, committee general secretary, said ex-servicemen would be available for distribution of preventive drugs, awareness campaigns, and helping out in the efforts of the local bodies in fighting the disease. In Kochi, an organisation called Kerala Health Watch Organisation has been formed to provide help to the people and the authorities in the fight against the epidemic.
