Special Correspondent
GULBARGA: It has been a long and arduous journey for Virendra Shah, who hails from a family of businessmen, to make a mark in the world of arts. Mr. Shah is now considered to be one of the best contemporary artists in the country. Mr. Shah, a product of MMK College of Visual Arts, Gulbarga, underwent training under great masters including V.G. Andani, former chairman of the Karnataka Lalitkala Academy. Mr. Shah, who been awarded the Research Grand Fellowship by the Central Lalit Kala Academy, bagged the junior fellowship from the Human Resource Ministry in 1994. He has been conducting solo and group exhibitions in the country since 1988. He has gained perfection in contemporary style of painting using acrylic, water colour and oil and proved his skills in interior design, and conducted joint studies on Virashaiva, Kuruba and Lambani communities.
Solo exhibition
Mr. Shah will hold a solo exhibition at Times and Space Gallery, Bangalore, from October 9 to 18. Contemporary painting holds great scope for the younger generation. But to make a mark, one has to work with perseverance, Mr. Shah says.
