Statue defaced

Hoshiarpur: A statue of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was on Thursday found defaced in the district.

The statue at the D C Road crossing near the district jail here was painted black, police said. Passers-by informed the police who cleaned the statue.

Hoshiarpur SP R. N. Dhoke said it was suspected that an ``over enthusiastic youth had hugged the statue.''— PTI
