Letters to the Editor
The editorial "The limits of finger-pointing" (Oct. 5) was balanced. But while there is need to put our house in order, the hope that we can make Pakistan act against terrorism by counselling General Pervez Musharraf about its dangers is misplaced. Pakistan calls terrorists "freedom fighters." How can we ever reason with such a country? I agree that India should neither break diplomatic ties nor suspend the peace process. But it should take decisive steps to dismantle terrorist modules in Pakistan.
Akhilesh Chandra,
Even if we snap all ties with Pakistan, the web of terror will continue to be spun around us. Incontrovertible evidence must be produced against the ISI. The veneer of Pakistan's role in the `war against terror' can then be unravelled for the world to see.
Sarah Anjum Mirza,
What is solid and verifiable evidence? Do we expect Gen. Musharraf to confess that his country planned and supported 7/11? The General may even do it, knowing that in India there are sections of society and media that will come to his support. I remember what my friend used to say no one believes India as its policies are heavily loaded with overzealous exhibition of magnanimity.
S.V. Krishna,
