It is the biggest problem, says Advani

Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani said here on Thursday that internal security was the biggest problem confronting the country and the situation was being "aggravated" by the Union Government's policies. Talking to mediapersons at the airport, he said it was unlikely that terror outfits could be contained with the Centre's policies.

Mr. Advani said many had questioned the "suraksha yatra,"' led by him and party president Rajnath Singh in April. Some even said why the BJP was raising the issue of internal security. It was after the Mumbai train blasts that people realised the gravity of the problem. They even got an assurance from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the Government had become fully alert on the issue. But Dr. Singh came out with a statement recently that Pakistan too was a victim of terrorism.

Mr. Advani said many of those who had worked with the Intelligence Bureau, the Research and Analysis Wing and police had written articles, criticising Dr. Singh for his observation.
