DMK indulging in violence: Jayalalithaa

CHENNAI:
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Thursday accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of indulging in violence against her party activists in the local body elections.
In a statement here, she said the DMK had been "violating democratic norms with the connivance of the police."
AIADMK candidate at Ward 29 of the Madurai Corporation and brother-in-law of party chairman K.Kalimuthu, Nandagopal, fainted following an altercation and scuffle with DMK men and died while he was taken to a hospital, she alleged.
Condemning the "violence let loose by the ruling party," she urged the police to act in a non-partisan manner.
