Puducherry: Health Minister E. Valsaraj on Thursday reviewed the pace of construction of the Rs. 47-crore Women and Child hospital at Ellaipillaichavady near here. He held discussions with the PWD officials and also the representatives of company to which the contract had been assigned. The Health Minister said that the hospital would have 700 beds including 180 in the paediatric ward. The previous estimated investment for the project was around Rs.35 crore but now it had risen to Rs.47 crore. A PWD official told the Minister that 40 per cent of the civil works had been completed so far. It was expected that the whole project would go on stream in six months.
