Malaysian embassy to coordinate with Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies

CHENNAI : The Malaysian Government will work in close cooperation with the Tamil Nadu Government to help those intending to seek employment in that country, Malaysian Minister for Human Resources, Fong Chan Onn, said here on Thursday.

Dr. Onn made this observation during a visit to the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies, where the State Government has issued instructions to conduct an induction course for those intending to go to Malaysia for employment. The Malaysian Ministerial delegation included the Deputy Director General of the National Vocational Training Council, Pang Chau Leong, Ms. Junaidah Kamaruddin of the Ministry of Human Resources, and the Rosli Ismail, the country's Consul General in Chennai.

Certificates

Mr.Ismail said the Embassy in Chennai would work in close coordination with the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies to sort out the issue concerning "fake certificates" and issue certificates on-line. Tamil Nadu Labour and Employment Department Secretary Ramesh Kumar Khanna sought the Malaysian Minister's cooperation for establishing one more Institute of Labour Studies in Tiruchi to cater to the large number of people seeking employment in Malaysia. P.R. Bindhu Madhavan, Chairman and Managing Director of Overseas Manpower Corporation, said the Corporation was the coordinating agency and the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies the Training Centre.

Director of Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies R. Madhan Mohan, outlining the activities of the Institute, said 61batches had completed training and in all 3,654 participants had been trained by the Institute.

Eligibility certificates were issued by the National Vocational Training Council, Government of Malaysia.
