Rupee posts further gains
MUMBAI:
The rupee on Thursday shot up further against the U.S. currency and closed at more than three-month high of 45.65/66 a dollar despite some negative reports like rise in crude prices and higher dollar demand.
In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market here, the Indian unit started marginally higher at 45.71/73 against Wednesday's close of 45.7350/7450 and after rising further to the day's high of 45.6400, closed at 45.65/66, a level not seen since May 23.
The smart rise in rupee was said to be due to poor dollar demand along with smart rise in the domestic stock prices, dealers said.Meanwhile, international crude oil prices rebounded in Asian trade on Thursday. PTI
