TIRUPATI: The Chittoor district unit of the Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham has complained to Minister for Revenue D. Prasada Rao that land reclamation funds were not being utilized. Members of the Sangham which met the Minister during his visit here on Thursday said that out of Rs.32 crores sanctioned more than one year ago to the district for the reclamation of the lands assigned to the poor under the Indira Prabha scheme, barely Rs.6 crores was spent while the rest went unused. The district general secretary of the Sangham A. Rama Naidu, in a memorandum submitted to the Minister, also alleged that the NREGP was progressing at a snail's pace in the district. He sought the Minister's intervention to distribute the assigned lands only to the eligible poor with facility to sell it after 10 years as is in vogue in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu. He also demanded that the Government follow `land-for-land' policy with regard to the lands acquired for the Sathyavedu SEZ.
Decision hailed
Meanwhile, the `Bhoo Samskaranala Karyacharanodyamam' in its memorandum to the Minister wanted that all land records, fair adangal, assignment register, list of poromboke lands, cultivation record, 2-C register etc must be computerised and put online so that they are easily accessible to the public and transparency ensured.
