KOTTAYAM: The annual State conference of the Kerala unit of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) will begin here on Friday. The three-day conference, under the theme `Total Care - Tots to Teens,' will have a series of scientific sessions on latest developments in cardiology, neurology, critical-care and pulmonology as part of the continuing education programme. While the academic sessions will begin on Friday, the conference will be formally inaugurated on Saturday. Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy will be the guest of honour. Nitin Shah, national president of IAP, will deliver the keynote address. K. Suresh Kurup, MP, will release a souvenir. Thomas Chazhikkadan and V.N. Vasavan, MLAs, will speak on the occasion. The conference is organised jointly by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Kottayam unit; the Department of Paediatrics at Kottayam Medical College; and IAP Kerala branch. Talking to journalists here, organising committee chairpersons George F. Moolayil and S. Letha; general convener T.U. Sukumaran; and secretary C. Jayakumar said the Kottayam district branch of the IAP proposes to open a neuro-behavioural clinic.
