NEW DELHI: To discuss different treatment options and compare results and cost effectiveness of surgery for hernia, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital's Minimal Access and Bariatric Surgery Centre here will host three-day 2nd Asia Pacific Hernia Congress and live workshop exclusively for herniology from this Friday. This will be a landmark international congress in which nearly 1,200 delegates and faculty from over 19 countries across the globe are expected to participate. A live workshop will be held on Sunday and different surgical approaches will be demonstrated live. "Across the world one in every ten people suffers from hernia during their life. Hernia occurs due to a weakness of the abdominal wall leading to protrusion of abdominal contents into the hernial sac. Several treatment modalities are in practice for hernia repair with varied results. The use of some of the modalities will be demonstrated for the first time in India during this seminar," said Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Board of Management chairman Dr. B.K. Rao.
