JAIPUR: Rajasthan Minister of State for Medical and Health, Bhawani Joshi, on Thursday called upon the Centre to sanction a special assistance of Rs.1crore to the State for containing the outbreak of dengue fever and malaria and supply dengue kits, DDT and synthetic pyrothroid spray powder to kill mosquitoes. Mr. Joshi, participating in a meeting of four northern States convened by Union Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss in New Delhi, pointed out that recent flash floods in the State had created favourable conditions for breeding of mosquitoes, leading to the outbreak of diseases. He said 193 cases of dengue had been detected across the State during the past two months. Besides Mr. Joshi, the Health Ministers of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh participated in the meeting held to discuss the measures for controlling seasonal diseases.
