JAIPUR: The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust felicitated 18 persons from different fields for their outstanding contribution to society on the birthday of the former Jaipur ruler Sawai Bhawani Singh on Tuesday. The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony in the evening at Pritam Niwas Chowk in the City Palace in the presence of the Sardars of the former Jaipur State, palace priests, Maharani Padmini and Princess Diya Kumari. The awards, an annual feature, included a cash prize of Rs.11,001, a shawl, a memento and "shrifal" each. The Dulha Raja Award for social work was presented to Sunil Bhargava, a chartered accountant. Other awardees included eminent historian R.Nath (Raja Kokil Dev Award), S.S.S.Rana (Raja Panjwan Dev Award for medicine), Ram Swaroop Sharma (Raja Bhagwant Das Award for traditional art) and Yogesh Jangid (Raja Mansingh Award for bravery) while Dault Singh Shekhawat received the Mirza Raja Jai Singh Award for military service. India Today's Special Correspondent in Jaipur, Rohit Parihar, was awarded the Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II Award for journalism. Photojournalist Pratap Singh was chosen for the award named after the photographer king Sawai Ram Singh. The award for educationists -- Maharaja Sawai Pratapsingh Award -- was bestowed on Raghavendra Singh Manohar whereas the award for performing arts went to Pandit Laxman Bhat Telang.
