Clash at mid-sea

CUDDALORE: Two groups of fishermen clashed in the mid-sea over the territorial jurisdiction of fishing and in the melee two of them sustained stab injuries on Thursday.

Perumal (32) and Parasuraman (38) of Thazhanguda, have been admitted to hospital.The police said five fishermen from Thazhanguda had set out in a mechanised boat at Narambai in the Bay of Bengal.

The Narambai fishermen who were present in the sea in more than a dozen boats objected to the trespassing, and this resulted in heated exchanges.
