Accent on role of HR

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : Over 200 human resource (HR) professionals and students of various city colleges participated in the recently concluded ``PERFORM 2006 — Towards Business Excellence: The Role of HR," conducted by the Department of Social work of D. G. Vaishnav College in the city.

Management expert M. B. Athreya, who was the chief guest, said there must be a symbiotic relationship among management, employees and trade union to achieve and sustain business excellence. He identified three important areas that no organisation could afford to ignore — customer value proposition, employee value proposition, and shareholder value proposition.

S. Varadarajan, Chief HR Officer, Quattro BPO Solutions, Delhi, urged young and aspiring professionals to be more "human responsive" rather being mere personnel service providers. Ms. Nancy Reisig, vice-president, Human Resources, Ford India, spoke on International HR, and Dr. Pallab Bandyopadhyay, Global Head, HR, Cambridge Solutions Corporation, shared his expertise on mergers and acquisitions.
