Bank strike on October 27

KOCHI: The United Forum of Bank Unions will strike work on October 27, protesting against the move to scuttle social-security norms in the banking sector and outsourcing of jobs. Meanwhile, the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern at the inability to do bank transactions from Saturday to Tuesday, owing to holidays and strike. Customers have come to be at the mercy of bank employees because of frequent strikes, said John K Paul, president of the Chamber. — Staff Reporter

Dharna planned

KOCHI: The Carbon Malineekarana Virudha Samiti will organise a Secretariat dharna on Friday, demanding compensation for residents of the area.
