Project to help people with vision problems

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The NTR Memorial Trust will take up a pilot project to help people with vision problems in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthi mandals of Mahabubnagar district with the active participation of the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI).

On October 12, the World Eyesight Day, eight hand-picked volunteers from each of the said mandals will help at least 600 people (300 from each mandal) by escorting them from their villages to the LVPEI Eye Care Centre in Thudupurthi in the district. They will be given necessary assistance for relief from cataract, short and long sight and other vision-related defects, entirely free of cost.

Naidu's visit

Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is chairperson and chief patron of the trust, is likely to visit Thudupurthi and interact with the patients comprising those below the poverty line.
