HYDERABAD: City roads battered by rain will get a facelift after November 15 when the rainy season comes to an end, said the MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju at the Hyderabad District Review Committee meeting. Mr. Jaju said road widening works were going on at a brisk pace and more than 3,000 properties were removed in the last one year for the purpose making it the biggest operation in the country. He said officials were working to complete all the new flyovers in the city as per the deadline. There were a few hiccups at the Nalgonda X Roads and Chadrayangutta but they would be sorted out. The Jamai-Osmania and Muslim Jung Road over Bridges are likely to be finished in another two months. The Commissioner said water stagnation on main roads could be controlled in the city with 240 stagnation points treated. However, roadside stagnation was still a problem and a committee had been set up on the issue. Mr. Jaju claimed that Rs. 450 crores had been sanctioned for the MCH under the National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM) project.
