Bangalore: The Bangalore Development Authority on Thursday inaugurated a loop that allows a signal free ride from Domlur to Koramangala.

This is the third loop of the airport road flyover and the overall length is 183.98 metres and has been built at a cost of Rs. 2.40 crore.

Vehicles used to take a detour to reach Koramangala. The Airport Road flyover had been a controversial project involved in litigation.

The project was delayed by over two years because of problems between the BDA and the contractor, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridges Corporation.

Five components

The grade separator had five components. Apart from the main flyover with a length of 435 metres, which was inaugurated in July, there were four other loops.

The 152-metre loop between Koramangala and Airport Road had been inaugurated on August 21.

The 300-metre loop that connected traffic from Indiranagar to Airport Road and 368-metre loop that connected Indiranagar with the city would be completed by December, BDA Commissioner M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda said after the inauguration.

Mr. Gowda told The Hindu that the bridge at Marathahalli would have six lanes and would be completed by December at a cost of Rs. 20 crore. Mahendra, Town Planning member, said the Comprehensive Development Plan of the BDA would be submitted to the State Government by the third week of October.
