Puducherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy will inaugurate the Rs.15-crore Anjarakandy drinking water supply scheme in Mahe on Sunday to meet the potable water requirement of 30, 000 people in the region. Health Minister E. Valsaraj told newsmen here on Friday that the Government of Kerala had implemented the scheme through its Kerala Water Authority. (Mahe is an enclave of Union Territory of Puducherry in Kerala). Mr. Valsaraj said that the water would be brought from Anjarakandy riverbed in Kerala to Mahe covering a total distance of 20 km. The Water Resources Minister of Kerala Premachandiran would preside over the inaugural function and Home and Tourism Minister of Kerala Kodeyri Balakrishnan will also participate. Mr. Valsaraj said that the Chief Minister would lay the foundation of the Rs 5-crore walkway project at the Manjakkal Water Sports Complex in Mahe the same day.
