ALAPPUZHA: The former Tourism Minister and Alappuzha MLA K.C. Venugopal said here on Friday that the statement by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss that chikungunya was not the primary cause of death of more than 80 people in Cherthala taluk in the district had created confusion among the public about the disease. The failure to diagnose the real reasons for the deaths had increased fear among the public, he said. The MLA said the Government should take steps to end the confusion. Mr. Venugopal welcomed the announcement of the Union Minister that the vector control research centre at Cherthala would be revived.
