Bail opposed

BANGALORE: The State Government on Wednesday opposed in the Karnataka High Court a petition for bail by a resident of Gulbarga, saying that he is involved in the harassment, kidnap and rape of a minor daughter of an advocate.

The petitioner, Syed Karem Babu, said the police had arrested him and several others on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl of Gulbarga. He had moved the High Court for bail after the Gulbarga District and Sessions Judge rejected his bail plea. The State Public Prosecutor said Babu along with several others was involved in a heinous crime and the courts should not show any leniency to them.
