Karnataka gains bonus point

VISAKHAPATNAM: Karnataka gained a bonus point by beating Goa convincingly to lead the points table at the end of the second round in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (South zone) under-19 tournament here on Friday.

In other actions, Hyderabad beat Tamil Nadu to take the second spot and Kerala beat Andhra by seven runs.

At the ACA-VDCA stadium, defending champion Tamil Nadu suffered its second defeat. Abhinav Mukund (52, 2x4, 1x6) and M. Pravin Srivatsan (31, 2x4) were the main contributors to the team's total of 170. Hyderabad left-arm spinner Kushal P. Jilla picked up four wickets.

In reply, Hyderabad achieved the target in 47.3 overs with D. Ravi Teja (54, 6x4) and Abib Ahamed (39) coming good.

Goa 88 in 35.1 overs (Navin Sharma 30, K.P. Appanna three for six, M.R. Darshan three for 15) lost to Karnataka 90 for two in 24.4 overs (K.P. Pavan 38, Kunal Kapoor 27). (Karnataka 5 points, Goa minus one).

Tamil Nadu 170 in 45.3 overs (Abhinav Mukund 52, M. Pravin Srivatsan 31, Kushal P. Jilla four for 34) lost to Hyderabad 171 for seven in 47.3 overs (D. Ravi Teja 54, Abib Ahamed 39, Prudhvi Reddy 28, R. Pandyarajan three for 27). Hyderabad 4.

Kerala 154 in 41.5 overs (Sanju Jose 47, Pravin T. Atchutan 27, T.K. Ganesh four for 34) bt Andhra 147 in 41.3 overs (D. Prabhu Kiran 49, K. Bharat Reddy 44, N.E. Sanuth three for 40). Kerala 4.
