YSR unveils Samireddy's statue in Anantapur

Names Tungabhadra drinking water scheme after the former MP

ANANTAPUR: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy unveiled the statue of former MP Sriramreddy, paternal uncle of Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy, at Neelakantapuram in Madakasira mandal of Anantapur district on Friday in connection with the centenary of the leader. The statues of Mailamma, wife of Sriram Reddy, Nagamma and Rangaiah Goud, parents of Reddy, were also unveiled.

The Chief Minister announced naming of Tungabhadra drinking water scheme after Sriramreddy, whom he described as a great parliamentarian. Dr. Reddy said the Government would promote cultivation of "kanuga" a bio-fuel plant in one lakh acres in Anantapur district. Also, a garment manufacturing unit would be planned in Madakasira area.

He said no poor family would be without a house in Madakasira after three years.
