SHINING: `Festival of Gold'
NEW DELHI: From time immemorial the shine of gold has always mesmerised Indians and it is an essential part of every joyous occasion, be it during festivals or when the wedding bells toll. Bearing all this in mind, MMTC -- the country's largest trading house and premium bullion trader -- is hosting the tenth edition of the Festival of Gold at Convention Hall of The Ashok hotel here beginning this coming Monday. For all those who have a penchant for Mughal treasures, "Bangla" styles, Maratha melange, Southern splendours, Golkunda attractions, Karnataka grandeur, Kutch tradition and Kundan fantasy, the weeklong festival will be a promising destination. The Festival of Gold will showcase kangans, earrings, rings, necklaces and wedding sets besides bangles, chains, pendants and mangal-sutras. Also on display and sale will be a rich kaleidoscope of jewellery design representing a number of diverse traditions from Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa and Jaipur. With the BIS-certified hallmarked world-class jewellery from all over the country under one roof, the festival will be a manna from heaven for Delhiites. Also up for grabs will be gold bars, gold and silver medallions and stunning "sanchi" silverware of 92.5 per cent purity. Bridal jewellery, traditional and antique, will vie for attention along with the lightweight collection for the Karwa Chauth festival.
