Inter student found dead in hostel VIJAYAWADA: A 16-year-old boy died under mysterious circumstances in the hostel room of a private junior college in Eedpugallu on Friday. The Kankipadu police said that the body of Jakkampudi Gireesh Kumar, a junior intermediate student with MPC group in Narayana Junior College, was found hanging in his hostel room when his friends went there to call him for lunch in the afternoon. - Staff Reporter

Claymore mine blast in agency

Visakhapatnam: A constable of a Special Police party received splinter injuries when the banned CPI (Maoist) activists set off a claymore mine at Jagalammathota near Palakajeedi in Koyyuru mandal of Visakhapatnam agency region on Friday morning. Student ends life

VISAKHAPATNAM: An MBA student hailing from Guntur district committed suicide, here, on Friday. According to the police, K. Venkata Rao, 21, a first year student of MBA from Anantavaram in Guntur, was studying in a private college. His roommate who returned from his village found the door locked. On breaking open the door, he found Venkat Rao hanging. The reason for taking the extreme step was not known immediately. Three Town SI B. Appa Rao is investigating the case. - Staff Reporter

Devotee allegedly manhandled

Tirumala: A devotee who was waiting for his turn in the Anga Pradakshina queue for securing biometric token was reportedly beaten up by a TTD security guard resulting in head injuries. While the devotee K.T. Bhaskar of Tirupati alleged that he was manhandled for no fault the TTD security and vigilance guard Ravindra maintained that his club accidentally fell on the devotee's head. - Staff Reporter

Lifer for six

KURNOOL: Fifth Additional Sessions Judge at Nandyal B. Ravindrababu awarded life imprisonment to six persons in a triple murder case on Friday. A group of 15 persons attacked Timmaiah, Venkataiah and Timmappa at Yallur village in Gospadu mandal on May 27 in 2001 and hacked them to death. After examining the versions of prosecution and defence sides, the judge awarded life imprisonment to Tirupal, Subbarayudu, G. Srinu, Chintakunta Obulesu, Ch. Obulesu and B. Kistanna and a fine of Rs 4,000 each. Nine others were acquitted due to lack of evidence. -Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Adilabad Municipal Council on Friday resolved to appeal to the Government for establishment of a medical college at Adilabad town.
