NEW DELHI: Maintaining that the dengue situation was well under control in the Capital and that people should not panic, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri on Friday said more awareness would be generated about the disease at the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited "Perfect Health Mela" that starts here this coming Tuesday.Dr. Shastri said the recently launched Delhi Health Mission would also be showcased during the seven-day mela, which will be held at MCD Park in Sheikh Sarai. The Medical Health Officer of the MCD, N. K. Yadav, said the New Delhi Municipal Council would display samples of live larvae and mosquito that have been causing dengue and malaria at the fair. The school children will also be sensitised about their role in preventing dengue in the Capital. K. K. Aggarwal, president of the Heart Care Foundation of India -- one of the main organisers of the mega event -- said the fair would provide on-the-spot speciality clinics, highly subsidised blood tests and free cardiac consultations and electro-cardiograms. R. S. P. Sinha, MTNL CMD, said the role of communication in health care could be crucial in preventing many diseases from spreading. While dengue is likely to remain in focus, some other attractions of the fair -- in which 350 organisations are participating -- would be health insurance, Indian medicine system, conservation of energy and competitions for children with special needs.
