Two held for tampering

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Nangloi police in West Delhi -- following a sting operation carried out by the power distribution company BSES Rajdhani in association with a customer -- for allegedly demanding and accepting money from consumers for tampering his electricity meter.

The discom said the customer had assisted it in carrying out the sting operation to catch a gang involved in meter tampering. The customer was approached by some persons masquerading as BSES officials who charged that his meter was tampered. They offered a "settlement" for Rs 25,000. They were nabbed by the Vigilance Team when he came to collect the first instalment of Rs. 5,000.
