Warning shots fired

P. S. Suryanarayana

SINGAPORE: South Korean soldiers on Saturday fired 60 warning shots to force the retreat of five military personnel from the North across the demilitarised zone (DMZ). Seoul said one soldier was armed and the five ignored the warning broadcasts. They were said to have "breached" the demarcation line by about 30 metres along a stream inside the DMZ. The incident attracted attention for the very reason of rising tensions on the nuclear issue.
