Rs. 400 crores to be spent on road repairs

  • 'Narasannapeta-Parlakhemundi road in bad shape'

    SRIKAKULAM: Minister for Roads and Buildings Jakkamapudi Ramamohana Rao on Saturday said that Rs. 400 crores was released for carrying out repairs to the roads damaged during floods in the State.

    Addressing a meeting held to mark the commencement of repair works of roads at Tekkali, Heeramandalam and Kalingapatnam,

    Mr. Ramamohana Rao said that Rs.75 lakhs would be spent on these repairs. He exhorted officials who were monitoring the works to ensure quality.

    Help to be sought

    He also referred to the bad condition of the road between Narasannapeta and Parlakhemundi (in Orissa) and said a proposal for improving this stretch was pending with the Central Government.

    The Minister said that he would seek the help of MPs from the State to clear the proposal and see that the work commenced at the earliest. Number of roads were damaged due to floods and the Government had drawn up plans for their restoration.

    Medical college

    Minister for Revenue and Relief Dharmana Prasada Rao said that with the sanction of a medical college for the district, one more demand of people of the region had been met by the Congress Government.
