TIRUPATI: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has today dismissed as `politically motivated' the furore being created by the TDP on the alleged gaps in his promises. Refuting the charge, the Chief Minister on the other hand said that of the 22 assurances he had given, 21 were fulfilled. While against 42 foundation stones he had laid in the district during the last two-and-a-half years for various works, 20 were complete. The rest are in different stages of completion and will be through in the next nine months, he added. Dr. Reddy was addressing a press conference after a marathon seven-hour review meeting at Chittoor, signalling the formal launch of his State-wide `Zilla Baata' to get district-wise feedback on the status of various developmental works. On the hue and cry being raised by the CPI(M) on Polavaram and SEZs, he brushed it aside as an exercise aimed more at asserting their political presence and maintained that the Government was committed to provide a "better package" to the affected persons. On the power front, he cautioned farmers not to go in for water and power-intensive crops like paddy and rabi. While asserting a seven-hour supply to agriculture, he however said that it would be staggered and asked people to see the ground reality and reconcile to the situation. In contrast to the TDP's grim picture on the implementation of the Government schemes in the district, the Dr. Reddy praised the Chittoor district administration and said that they deserved incentive. On the voices of dissent of late being heard in the party, he played it down as "normal" in a huge democratic party. Among the participants were District In-charge Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy and Chief Whip N. Kirankumar Reddy.
