KHAMMAM : People and business establishments mourned the death of an Intermediate student Girish by observing a bandh in Chandrugonda village on Saturday. The boy had reportedly committed suicide hanging himself from the ceiling in the fifth floor of a corporate college in Vijayawada on Friday. He was allegedly sent back to his village for `non-payment of the fee dues'. In fact he happened to be one of the few students of the college who had paid the complete fee for the year at the time of admission availing a concession of Rs 3000.
Rude shock
The college administration wanted him to pay even the concession amount on returning from the holidays. Accompanied by his father, Srinivas, the boy returned to the college on Friday and got the fee payment particulars verified.
Admits mistake
The college principal, who had reportedly admitted the mistake of his staff, wanted the boy to go to his classroom. But the boy locked up himself in his friend's room and ended life by hanging himself. Some of his roommates went to his rescue, but it proved to be too late and he succumbed on the way to hospital. His father was present on the premises when the incident happened. He returned to Chandrugonda village with the body. In the mean time, the Vijayawada police contacted the family and wanted the body for port mortem and further investigation.
