HYDERABAD: The minority professional educational institutions have sought relaxation in the mandatory 70 per cent admissions to be done with the minority students concerned and also reduction of eligibility marks in the entrance examinations on the lines of SC and ST students. These views were expressed at a meeting called by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education to discuss issues , keeping in view GO No. 1 of 2004. The colleges also wanted a single window system to pursue matters of granting approvals of minority institutions, instead of involving various departments. The managements also argued for award of permanent minority status. Another demand was to allow the managements to fill unfilled minority seats with the non-minority students following rule of reservation. They proposed that details of the religion either by birth or conversion of the founder and management of the college should be published in two leading news dailies. They wanted the Minority Welfare Department to clear files within one month and in case it fails to act in the stipulated time, treat the permission deemed to have been given.
