TDP accepts Congress challenge on open forum

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has communicated to the Congress its willingness to participate in an open forum on development of Telangana during each other's regimes.

Responding to the challenge by Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Kesava Rao, whether the TDP was prepared for such a discussion, the party's general secretary Kadiam Srihari gave a positive reply to Mr. Rao through a letter on Saturday.

The TDP leader sought the scope of discussion to be widened to include corruption in irrigation projects and Outer Ring Road during Congress rule.

"Don't back out"

He based his demand on allegations of financial irregularities in their implementation by Congress Government. Mr. Srihari asked the Congress not to back out on its challenge like in the past. The Congress had hurled a similar challenge then, but kept away just as the TDP was geared up to face it. It should not be repeated this time, his letter added.
