Move to sell State lands draws flak from TDP

Staff Reporter

`Make policies on land issues public'

  • Move to hand over erstwhile GMC land to G.S. Group criticised
  • TD asks State to take back the land keep it for public use

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has lashed out at the Congress Government for either selling away large extent of Government in and around the State Capital or leasing away Government properties for purposes other than those that benefit the people at large.

At a press conference here on Saturday, party leaders — E. Peddi Reddy, Mayor T. Krishna Reddy and G. Sayanna — specifically referred to the Government's recent move to hand over the erstwhile Gandhi Medical College campus to the G.S. Gupta group for development of the GS Urban Entertainment Centre.

They wanted that the Government take back the land in question and initiate steps to keep such land and property for public use. They also said that the Government should come out with a clear policy and make it public.

    Mayor's charge

The Mayor alleged that it was not just land in Hyderabad, but large extents of land in adjoining Ranga Reddy district that were being given away by the Government to serve the interests of relative and friends of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and other powerful Congress leaders.
