Reshma, Priya in title clash

Bangalore: Reshma Karthik defeated Monisha Gowda 21-3, 21-7 to set up a title clash with Priya Prakash, who beat K. Nidhi 21-16, 22-20 in the girls under-10 singles of the Badminton Well Wishers Trust State-ranking tournament at the KBA courts here on Saturday.

The results: Boys: Under-13: Doubles (semifinals): M.C. Srinivas/ Chetan bt Y. Abhishek/ K. Yashasvi 21-17, 21-12; Vinay Hari/ Rajas Jawalkar bt Siddarth/ Akshay 21-8, 21-15.

Girls: Under-16: Singles (quarterfinals): Uttara Prakash bt Rashmi Nagaraj 21-3, 21-0; Shruti Sridhar bt Varsha Srinivas 21-13, 21-12; Ankita Ashok bt Taanya Ravi 21-14,21-17.

Under-10: Singles (semifinals): Reshma Karthik bt Monisha Gowda 21-3, 21-7; Priya Prakash bt K. Nidhi 21-16, 22-20.

State junior netball

The Karnataka State Amateur Netball Association will conduct the sixth State junior championship for boys and girls from October 27 to 29. Entries close on October 20 and details can be had from the association secretary, Ph: 22109655.

Netball tournament

The New Cambridge High School, Vijayanagar, RPC Layout, will conduct an inter-high school netball tournament for boys and girls on October 18 and 19. Entries close on October 15 and for details call Manjunath Hosakote, New Cambridge High School, Ph: 23301518 or 9448505872.

`A' division hockey

The Deccan Herald-State `A' division hockey championship will be played at the KSHA Stadium from October 9 to November 4. Sixteen teams will participate in the championship.

The groupings:

Pool `A': HAL, MEG, CoE, ITI, Postal HC, Flying Hand Bombers.

Pool `B': ASC `B', SAI `B', RBI, DBHA, CHA, MLI `B', BEL.

Vikram Chandra wins

Vikram Chandra bagged the TAG Heuer Precision golf tournament played at the KGA course here on Saturday. He had a score of 68.4 in the 11-20 handicap section, while T.T. Jagannathan finished second with a score of 69.4. In the 0-10 handicap section Sujith Somasundar was the winner with 69.8 while Ajay Gopal was runner-up with 70.

The event was played on a Double Peoria Stableford format where the golfers' handicap was decided on 12 undisclosed holes. Kapil Dev led the strong field of 84 golfers, which included UB CEO V. Sahshikanth, Mindtree Consulting President & CEO Krishna Kumar, Tommy Hilfiger MD Alok Malhotra and Principal Secretary, Govt. Jyotiramalingam.
