KANNUR: The Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (Anert) is planning to carry out various non-conventional energy projects at an estimated cost of Rs.1.7 crore in 2006-07 under the Akshaya energy programme. The projects would be implemented with the help of local bodies in the district. Anert Project Officer-in-charge Aneesh S. Prasad said at a press conference here on Saturday that the projects would include financial assistance for setting up energy-saving firewood oven, free solar lamps for 400 houses without electricity and setting up of solar water heaters in health centres.
