KOTTAYAM: An all-party meeting held here on Saturday to review the cleaning operations in the district has decided to mobilise the Panchayati Raj institutions to take the lead at the grassroots. District Collector Raju Narayana Swamy said the district a cleaning operation would be implemented in the district from October 9 to 13. Camps would be held at the panchayat-level on Monday. Camps would be conducted at the ward-level on October 10. Door-to-door campaigns would be held on October 11 and 12. Cleaning operations in the district would be held on October 13 at the grassroots, the Collector said. An all-party committee at the constituency-level with the respective MLA as the chairman and Thasildar as convener would coordinate the works. Special efforts would be taken to monitor waste disposal from hotels and slaughter houses, he said. The cleaning effort would be carried out in association with the nine departments, he said. Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy, heads of various departments and MLAs participated in the conference.
