NEW DELHI: One person has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi police for allegedly cheating several people in the name of sending them to countries like the United States of America and Canada and helping them get jobs there. According to the police, one Jai Bhagwan approached Suresh Dutt Sharma, who had advertised in the newspapers as a migration agent, in 2003. Suresh got Jai Bhagwan to sign an agreement and charged Rs. 60,000. Subsequently he demanded another Rs. 1 lakh and told him that if he did not pay up he would be never be able to go to the US. Jai Bhagwan paid the amount in 2003 but Suresh allegedly did not do anything for him during the next three years. The police also came to know that Suresh had similarly duped many people from Darjeeling as well as a couple of professionals in Delhi. A case was registered at the Kalkaji police station and Suresh was finally arrested this past Thursday. During interrogation, the accused, who was earlier engaged in textile trade, allegedly disclosed that he began duping people to earn fast and easy money.
