CHENNAI: All disabled children in the State will be issued identity cards under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan for the current year, School Education Secretary M. Kutralingam said on Saturday.

The card will carry all details about the child, including the type of support required, he said at the valedictory function of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu.

Besides awareness programmes for parents, cross-disability training would be given to special teachers. Vocational and computer training would be given to the children. NGOs have been identified to collaborate with the SSA to meet the needs of special children.

The State was committed to the cause of differently-abled children, and special teachers had been appointed in all block resource centres, he said.
