HYDERABAD: Piano lovers in the twin cities could not have asked for more. How could they when one of the world's oldest musical instrument manufacturers which has a particular inclination for pianos has set up shop here?

Musee Musical (formerly known as Ms'Quinth and Co.), Chennai-based music major that has been in the business for a staggering 15 decades — from 1842 to be precise — opened its second showroom in the city at Babukhan Mall, Somajiguda, on Saturday. Musee Musical Piano Gallery, located on the ground floor of the mall, houses Grand Pianos, Acoustic upright pianos, Digital Pianos, the legendary Clavinovas from Yamaha and a wide range of keyboards. Various brands such as Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Pearl River, Steiner and Kawai are among the brands one will get to see, touch and play, all under one roof.

The gallery, true to Musee's tradition, was opened by music director/composer Mani Sharma, a person who had grown up on Musee's music. Accompanying him was London Trinity College's music examiner Roger Pope.

Fond memories

An enthusiastic Mani Sharma recalled the days when he as a small boy used to frequent Musee Musical in Chennai and also when he appeared for the Trinity College of music exams through Musee Musical. Musee Musical is associated with the Trinity College of Music in London and more than 2500 students every year appear for the latter's exams though Musee. Several noted names in Indian music have learnt their craft and appeared for examinations at Musee Musical, the prominent among them being Ilayaraja, L. Shankar, not to forget A.R. Rahman and Mani Sharma.

The gallery can be contacted over mobile numbers 9848606134 and 9866397985.
