To put up a desalination unit in T.Nadu

MUMBAI: The Beta group is putting up a Rs. 250-crore expansion plan in the cashew nut business for its `Nut King' brand in the four metros in the next one year. It also plans to diversify its activities by starting with a $200-million investment in a state-of-the-art desalination plant in Tamil Nadu.

The group, which is having business interests ranging from food products to pharmaceuticals and shipping, is creating a new company to represent the Department of Russian Federal Agency of Atomic Energy, to market its patented new generation desalination plant.

The first plant, for which they are in discussion with the Tamil Nadu Government, will have a 30,000 tonnes a day capacity production, Raj Mohan Pillai, Chairman, Beta Group, said here on Monday.
