JD(U) demands ban on Bajrang Dal
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The Janata Dal (United) State unit on Monday urged the State Government to ban organisations such as Sri Rama Sene and the Bajrang Dal which allegedly fomented communal passions in the State.
Janata Dal (U) State unit president B. Somasekhar criticised the Government for the way it handled the Datta Peetha issue and the communal riots in Mangalore. He demanded stringent action against those responsible for the riots before the situation went out of control.
Taking exception to Bajrang Dal for taking law into its hands by searching a truck in Mangalore, which allegedly sparked riots, Mr. Somasekhar said those who lost their property and were injured in the incidents should be given compensation.
