KOCHI: Computer Society of India, Chennai Chapter, in association with Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship is organizing a two-day workshop on ``Knowledge Management'' in Chennai on October 13 and October 14. The field of knowledge management has grown in both profit sectors and non-profit sectors. Knowledge management gives emphasis on capturing strategic information, analysing markets, designing databases, developing document repositories, and policies and procedures to capture and share knowledge. It is the systematic process of locating, selecting, organising, and presenting information/ knowledge in a manner that contributes to organisational effectiveness. It is an emerging discipline that promotes a systematic study of the intellectual assets of organisations. The study and practice of knowledge management are products of the 1990's, with many practitioners in different disciplines, including business, engineering, information science, management, communication, among others. This workshop will enable the participants to apply knowledge management in the IT industry, management, and information science, contributing to economic and social gain for the country. A. Ramakrishna, president Emeritus, L&T ECC, Chennai, will inaugurate the workshop and M.S. Ananth, Director IIT, Chennai, will deliver the keynote address.
