PORT-OF-SPAIN (Trinidad): Sir Frank Worrell Oval in northern Trinidad was selected to replace the Brian Lara stadium for next year's World Cup, the tournament organisers said on Monday. The Worrell Oval, located on the University of the West Indies campus, will host a four-match warm-up series between Canada, Ireland, Pakistan and South Africa from March 5 to 9. Owing to construction delays, the Brian Lara stadium in southern Trinidad would not be ready in time for the March 11 to April 28 extravaganza, and being held in the Caribbean for the first time. The World Cup matches will be played at 12 grounds in nine countries. AP
