DRL settles patent litigation with GlaxoSmithKline

HYDERABAD: Dr. Reddy's Laboratories announced on Tuesday that it has settled patent litigation with GlaxoSmithKline relating to sumatriptan succinate tablets, generic version of the latter's medicine. The terms of the settlement, which remain subject to Government review, provide that Dr. Reddy's may exclusively distribute an authorised generic version of sumatriptan succinate tablets (in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg strengths) in the U.S. GlaxSmithKline's Imitrex tablets, which are indicated for acute treatment of migraine attacks in adults, had U.S. sales of $890 million for the period ending June 2006.
